Finally, gloves for the wood stove that actually fit my hands (women's medium)...
**Note: If your hands are a women's large, these gloves may be just a bit too small / short in the fingers.
I ordered the "small" size red gloves and though the fingers are a tad short (as another reviewer mentioned) they are indeed women's gloves. The gloves are approx. 5" across the top of the hand, the fingers are approx. 3" long, and the length is just about 14". The fingers are snug so it's easy to maneuver hot logs quickly, easily, and with precision. They work well in keeping hands safe from the heat of the fire when positioning wood. I have attached some pictures for those who are leery of the conflicting reviews in regard to the gloves being too big. I couldn't wait to try the gloves before writing this review so you will see black charcoal marks on them in the pictures. The gloves arrived with no marks on them.
Only time will tell how these gloves will hold up but so far, these gloves are the best fitting wood stove gloves I've ever had and they seem to be made exceptionally well. And for thirteen ninety nine as of December 2017, one can't beat the price. I may just order an extra pair just to have on hand (no pun intended! :-)
I've been using a wood stove for 30 years so I have some experience with these kinds of gloves. I've order gloves on Amazon from other sellers in the past thinking they would fit based on the description and reviews but the gloves received were too big and bulky (more like a men's medium size).
Comments for seller/manufacturer:
1. If you continue to receive reviews mentioning the fingers of the gloves being too short, consider adding no more than 1/4" in length to the fingers.
2. Nice instructions that accompanied the gloves! I really got the sense that your company's mission is to have satisfied customers.
I bought these for camping to use with the Dutch oven and the cast iron skillet. I felt no heat at all! I heartily recommend these. They worked well enough with my small hands and fit my husbands' big hands perfectly. I have used them on two camping trips so far and expect them to last for years. These are high quality and was money well spent.
I've had four pairs of these at this point; I like them a lot, and I'm not buying any more.
Fit, feel, dexterity, protection, and general quality of build are all top notch, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone who's not going to use them for rough work.
Unfortunately, I'm a welder, and there are two reasons why I have gone through several sets of these; I'm clumsy and tend to not notice right away when I'm feeding one of my fingers into my angle grinder, and the leather reinforcement patch on the palms keeps tearing free of the gloves on every pair I've used.
Obviously, tearing out the fingers is my own blunder, but the stitching of the palms is just not up to heavy use. I've since moved on to a brand that uses kevlar thread in their construction, which I'm hoping will prove more durable.
I wish I could keep using NoCry, but they don't hold up to my use.
I've used a woodburning stove for years and always used andirons and tongs to position the logs inside. Rarely do the logs end up exactly where I would like. Lots of sparks and not a few burns on my hands and carpet. Also dangerous. I recently purchased a pair of NoCry heat and flame resistant gloves and became an instant fan! I now literally pick up logs, even logs with embers, and position them exactly where I want them. Almost no sparks, and the gloves cover almost to my elbows, so any sparks there may be don't touch my skin. WOW! do I like them. I have rather large hands so I got the extra large size and they fit great. Other sizes were available as well. For the price paid and a promise from the company to replace if I experience problems or refund if not satisfied, I am truly impressed!
I bought these gloves to handle hot logs when camping. They worked so much better than I expected. I had a chance to try them out this past weekend while camping. I was able to reach into the fire, grab and hold smoldering logs and move them around without too much heat. Obviously you don't want to hold a burning log for a long time, but the few seconds I picked them up to move them around and re-position them, it was heat and pain-free!! Great gloves!

Description
Be confident getting your jobs done without worrying about burns or scratches
Whether you're building a campfire, grilling steaks on the BBQ, or welding together a coffee table of horseshoes, your NoCry heavy duty gloves will keep your hands safe. Designed to protect you from fingertip to forearm, the heat and flame resistant leather with double layer palms means you can pick up hot coals, logs, or tools without putting your skin in danger.
Plus, these gloves are a great choice when handling cats who don't enjoy having their nails trimmed. Leave the scratch marks to your favorite piece of furniture instead of your arms.
Feel safe with comfort and dexterity
Because most heat resistant gloves are stiff, gripping small objects can be difficult if not impossible. That's why we designed our NoCry gloves to be pliable so your fingers can move easily. Clean the grill one minute then grab a utensil the next without taking off your gloves. The soft fleece lining adds an extra level of comfort.
Get serious protection made to last
Developed with the demands of factory welding in mind, NoCry gloves can stand up to your day to day activities around the house or the rigors of industrial use. Made from thick shoulder split cowhide, double-layer reinforced palms, and double stitched, fully welted, Kevlar-sewn seams, these gloves will take you from pulling buckthorn out of the garden to your skillet out of the oven for years to come.

I want to make a joke, about how little dexterity there is in the gloves. A tight fit and little movement. Literally makes you feel like you're stuck a hundred miles up in orbit of the earth, in a space suit, trying to grasp on to what tools you have during a space walk and not to drop it towards the hundred mile drop back to the planet surface.
They are very thick, nice leather, and nice liner. Arm length, covers well. Maybe I should've gotten a larger size, for the dexterity and fitting, but I think I'm happy with my purchase.
After years and years of cutesy-pie oven mitts (quilted, knitted, fortified with some sort of silicon, etc.), I realized what I really needed was welding gloves. These are absolutely great -- I've happily survived snapping coals, balky gas grills, and a long reach into a slightly too-high oven to grab two racks of ribs. I like the long gauntlets on these gloves, and will probably buy another pair soon (I'm thinking one pair for inside tasks and another for the grill). Definitely a cost-effective replacement for all the ineffective, short-lived ones I've spent money on over the years.
I have been searching for heat resistant gloves that would fit my seven year old great nieces hands that were reasonably priced. I am teaching her how to use a sewing machine and all of the other things that need to be done, including ironing fabric. Using a steam iron can be dangerous for an adult. I wear a heat resistant kitchen glove because I've been burned by the steam from the iron. But those gloves are way too huge for my great niece to use. These gloves fit her tiny hands perfectly! I have small hands myself but I can barely get these on because they're so small and the finger length is too short for me. My wedding ring is a size five so I was surprised that there were too small for me. My great niece is thrilled that she has her own gloves for ironing fabric and she loves that they are red instead of the plain white ones I wear. We are both right handed so we only need to wear a glove on our left hand because we don't need one on the hand that holds the iron. That's why I can buy and use a single kitchen heat resistant glove but they are one size only and my great niece can put three fingers in the thumb hole so they're way too big for her. These gloves are especially great because they have long gauntlets so they protect her whole arm. She's like any child that age and isn't as careful as I am when I'm ironing so I'm glad for the extra protection. Her family loves to go camping and they'll bring these gloves along so she can wear them while roasting marshmallows over the campfire. There was a problem with the first pair of gloves I received because the lining in the left glove was sewn incorrectly and she couldn't get her thumb in the glove. I wrote an email to the company explaining the problem and within a couple days they sent me another pair. What fantastic customer service! I was going to return them through Amazon but when I was packing them up I found a letter from the company that came with the gloves that said to contact them directly if there was a problem with the product. Since I was planning to order another pair of the same gloves once I got my refund from Amazon I got another pair without the hassle of returning the original ones. These are very well made leather gloves and I'm sure my great niece will outgrow them long before they wear out. I've been sewing for 63 years ( since I was seven years old) and I knew the problem with the lining in the left glove was something that quality control didn't catch because the right glove was sewn perfectly. That's why I had no worries about ordering the same gloves. Even though we're not using these gloves for welding I'm sure they would be great for doing that. In fact I'm thinking of ordering some in my size because I make jewelry and often use a torch and a soldering iron when I'm doing wire work. These gloves would be much better than the ones I have now!
I have medium sized women’s hands. I ordered these gloves in small because I wanted an alternative to large men’s gloves which make working in my wood burning stove more difficult than it should be. I recognized that the fingers might be too short because of all of the reviews that said so. The gloves turned out to be very nice quality and the length of the gauntlet was just right and the length of the thumb was also just right. But the fingers were too short. That made closing my hands around a piece of wood too difficult.
Included with the gloves was a note which said that if all was not well, email us. So I did. I told them my problem and ask for advice. Should I return the gloves to Amazon, or request a replacement pair in size large, or did they have another product that would work for me? In two days I received a reply. They said there wasn’t a third alternative but that they would send me a pair in size large, that I could just keep the small pair, and that if the large pair didn’t work that they would issue me a refund. Two days later the size large gloves arrived. Again, very nice quality. They are about 1 inch longer, which is fine, and although they are bigger than I would like, they will do nicely.
I am very impressed with the integrity and responsiveness of this company. And these are high quality gloves. For women with anything other than very small hands, I recommend the large size.
OK BBQ gloves. They are not quite as well-insulated as I was hoping. They are basically thick leather gloves with a cotton liner. When holding something hot, you will quickly feel it coming through the gloves. For example, I picked up a ~350ยบ pizza stone and after about 5 seconds I could no longer hold it comfortably.
If you are planning on using these for picking up and holding hot objects, forget it. Otherwise, they serve the purpose of protecting your hands from short and incidental heat contact well.
