I've used a LOT of gloves over the years. There's nothing more frustrating than to spend $40 on a pair of gloves and have them fail after a few hours work.
As an example of what I need gloves for: I cut about 3 cords per year of eucalyptus wood on our property with hand tools. (This may include digging out large stumps of dead trees over the period of several weeks part time.) Dry eucalyptus has large, sharp "shards" when you split it, which put a beating on ordinary gloves. Also, I recently took apart a large brick counter-top on our patio and removed Spanish tile from the cement underneath which destroyed a nice pair of Stanley gloves in a few hours.
I don't even look at those cheap leather gloves from the home outlet stores; they would be shredded after an hour or two, but these pigskin Wells Lamont 3300L gloves hold up very well. The leather on these gloves is supple yet thick enough to hold up under stress. I have not had the stitching fail yet--see below now. I'm going to buy these gloves exclusively from now on.

1 Year Later: I took one star off this review. After writing the above, the next pair of these gloves were not the same quality. The stitching in the palm failed after a week of light garden use which is a simple quality control issue that Wells Lamont needs to fix.

I am purchasing another pair of these gloves from Amazon today. I still give them four stars and they are very good gloves. HOWEVER, expect them to develop holes in the fingers and (occasionally) the thumb if you work hard with them. I use them for all sorts of projects here on the ranch and a lot for cutting wood with saw and axe. My solution? The foundation of Western Civilization: DUCT TAPE! Makes them last for six months more. See pictures.
This is the first pair of work gloves I have ever had that fit my large hands. they go on and off without stressing the side stitching, are very comfortable. I am a rancher and generally wear out a pair of gloves sometimes in days. I used to buy the cheap ones by the dozen and sometimes would wear out a pair in a day, I do not know yet how long these will last but I will bet a respectable amount of time. I have purchased other 'expensive' gloves that would last but never fit well, the fingers were always too short thus stressing that area. And always hard to get on and off. If these wear well I will most likely never use another brand again. I would have given 5 stars but I don't yet know how they will hold out.
Ok, it has been more than 6 months and I am still on the first pair. Normally I would have gone through three or more pairs by now. These show no signs of real wear and they still fit! I have very large hands which I think contributes to the wear on other gloves. I will never buy another brand but since I have two pair I have not yet used...May 2014 and I just threw out the first pair, I could not be more pleased with these gloves.
Pros: ruggedly made, comfortable, size is accurate (mine is large)
Cons: none
I have used these for steady 'weekend warrior' work building stone walls, clearing brambles and brush, and cutting/clear dead trees on my little suburban-but-woodsy yard in central TX. These gloves are great, a bit more expensive than some, but worth it for comfort and durability. A good value, I highly recommend.
I love these gloves. I've tried just about every king of glove out there, but I keep coming back to these for all around comfort and durability. I use them out in the yard for the most part as the high wrist collars keep the rose bushes from scratching me up. But, I also use them for just about any purpose outside when something needs to be done and I don't want to get my hands dirty or injured. These are soft gloves, so they are very comfortable. I guess you have to try other brands to notice the difference. I'm sticking with these.

Great gloves, soft, nice soft liner, well made and unlike some of my past Chinese trash gloves - both the left and right hand are the same size. Fit is good - I have short stubby fingers and big palms - these fit me really good. After using them for some moderately heavy work - I did not note any torn stitches or ripped up cuff.
I use these for fueling a truck and protecting my hands while I do inspections of the truck.
I like the fuzzy esq. insulation - it's not really made for cold weather - but is effective for not so cold environments - such as 35 degrees in the walk in refrigerator - as long as you don't stay in there and expect these gloves to keep you warm.
I bought these for my Dad for Christmas in 2015. He does intense farm work on a daily basis and the pair held up to the test. They lasted the entire year. So for Christmas this year, I bought him a couple pairs to replace the other when it finally wore out. FANTASTIC deal with the quality of item you receive. Highly recommend!
Well Lamont make pretty good gloves. I bought these for heavy outdoor work. In two months, I have rubbed off the leather for the palm by the pointer finger. I think I will move to using these for delocate heavy work (rosebushes) and get full grain leather for heavy work (woodcutting, roofing).
Relatively lightweight leather gloves with canvasbacks and gauntlet. Easy-on, easy-off. Shaped to hand. Perfect for gardening. I like the gloves but not the ones I would pick for a day of cutting and splitting wood. The grip is good for rake or hoe.
My initial reaction is that these gloves are so-so. I was looking for some work gloves that allow the hands to breathe a bit, which the fabric uppers on these should do. Fir the price, I was looking for just a little more glove.
