Wow. Calfskin gloves have been my go-to choice for 45 years now, and I've seen the quality drop so much that I'm not surprised when a pair lasts only a month or two. I've come to expect it, and I've come to accept it. Maybe not any more.
After buying yet another couple pairs from WM, HD, or LOW for $9.98, I thought I'd see what was available from Amazon. I bought the basic glove and the palm-reinforced version.
The basic glove will be my go-to now, and I will buy two more pair immediately because this kind of quality seems to disappear without notice these days.
They arrive in a zip-lock that's worth keeping for other purposes. The fit is extraordinary right off the bat, and the leather is unbelievably soft. Some folk might think soft leather is less durable, but it's not always so... I have $160 ski patrol gloves with the softest (treated) leather you can imagine, but they are are tough as iron. That said, I will wait to see if these measure up in toughness.
The UN-reinforced gloves I received were notably thicker than the reinforced gloves. That's not necessarily a bad thing – it's as if the reinforced gloves kept the thickness only where you need it. But I am buying two more pair of the un-reinforced glove... the leather is so thick that you don't need a palm pad, and yet it's soft and supple.
I'll update this review with more wear time, but man I have never seen a glove like this at a price like this.
These are shockingly durable. I have tried a dozen or so different gloves for my daily work on our farm and these have lasted as long as any so far. I have tried extremely expensive gloves and cheaper gloves and all were destroyed pretty quickly. I have to do fencing, trenching (with hand clean out), picking, shoveling, chainsaw cutting, sheep handling, structure building, tree and brush clearing and just about anything you can think of. I am VERY hard on gloves. These are comfortable and so far have stood up to the abuse very well. The only issue I have is that my hands are very large so the biggest size is just barely big enough. They are still very comfortable, but I would like them a little bit bigger to be just perfect. I always have this problem so I am kind of used to the palm being just a tad high off the wrist. Overall, I am going to get another pair for when I finally destroy these (and I will), but this is a much better deal than the $60 ones I have had.
Nice soft leather, excellent for protecting the hands while doing yard work. I'm impressed by the quality of the product. I got medium, and it's not a snug fit; it's just right. Good buy.
I use these in a blacksmith shop and they have saved my hands. I would have severely burnt myself twice if it were not for these gloves. These are real leather and I could tell by the smell of the burning leather which would have been my skin had it not been for these gloves. Happy it was the glove and not my hand!
I also did a lot of hammering with them on and I started to get a small blister on my thumb from the seem of the glove rubbing on the inside. After I realized it I just pushed the thumb further down and didn't have any more problems. I don't care though, these things saved me enough that I didn't doc it points for that.
I followed the size chart and they fit perfectly, just as listed in the chart.
Great gloves. True to fit. Very soft leather. I got the unlined pair and the insides are very comfortable. Because they are so soft they bend very well when doing tasks. Sometimes you loose feeling when wearing gloves like this. These however still allow for tactile feel.
Not sure they would be good at temps below say 20 degrees as they are not lined.
Overall very impressed and would recommend.

I have used these gloves for minor chores around my house and garden. So far, they are perfect for my needs. They are not bulky, provide protection and enable me to feel my way around hand tools.
Well, the gloves are not soft the first time you put them on but I'm hoping they'll soften up the more I use them. They were stiff to use at first but they got better as the chores piled on. By the end of the day, they were pretty dirtied up but surprisingly, they were still a little stiff, specially for the forefinger and the little finger. I had to adjust using tools, especially a pick because it felt like I was losing my grip on it. Using the shovel was OK because it had a horizontal handle built for the hand. Anyway, I don't dislike the gloves - I'm going to give them a couple of weeks to get really soft and supple inside. I just hope they last that long!
Nice gloves for the money. I don’t have large hands -size 10 ring and 9 inches around my hand ,however ; the large size fit but, I think anyone larger than a 9 inch hand should order the extra large.
Love these gloves, soft yet tough. Great for masonry work. I'm using them to clear rubble, brick and block and they work great. I got the large size and they fit perfect, I'm 5'10" and wear a 10 1/2 boot. Hope that helps
These gloves are one of the best products I've ordered in the past year from Amazon. They are a great value for the price, the quality is excellent and I will probably buy additional pairs in the future. I have been using these a few times a week for light yard work and gardening and they are very soft comfortable and durable. They do not have an offensive odor as some other leather gloves do, and there's no dye rubbing off on my hands as some other budget leather gloves do.
