The warning label, oddly enough, says that "ProFlex Fire & Rescue Performance Gloves are not fire fighting gloves and are not approved by the NFPA for structural or wild land fire fighting." Not really a surprise, since almost any fabric shell can let in scalding hot water. Also, they don't seem to have any major insulating properties. So those are the negatives.
But for most purposes, they're excellent. They've got enough padding to provide basic protection, but I've essentially got a full range of motion. The cloth is tough; it hasn't ripped or snagged. Along the fingers and palms, there are pads of some rough, velcro-like material. So I can get a great grip on smooth surfaces, even when they're wet. (That's a huge improvement over leather or rubber or bare skin.) And it's not a problem for them to touch hot surfaces briefly. (Maybe like a kitchen potholder.) There's no rubber or nylon that will melt.
And, of course, the bright green cloth helps you find them when they fall out of your pocket or whatever.
So 9 out of 10 for work gloves, 0 out of 10 for firefighting.
I have no regrets buying this glove. It has held up well and I would buy again.
I only got to use them a little bit so far but they are excellent gloves. I would definitely recommend.
