These gloves offer a few seconds -- not quite a minute -- of protection before heat starts becoming uncomfortable. They're good for picking up, holding, moving, manipulating -- and then putting a hot object down. They're also very good for handling feed lines of liquid nitrogen -- extreme cold, too. Just remember they're not going to protect you for an extended period.
What's exceptional about them is that you can feel the object you're holding in your hand through the gloves. They transmit tactile sensation very well. They allow you to move your fingers, thumb, and flex your hand without much resistance. They're very good for manipulation of whatever it is you're working on.
They're very good. Almost five stars. I would give them 4.8 stars if I could -- but I took a bit off because I don't want potential buyers thinking they're fire- and heat-proof for long periods of time.
We go through about a pair a year with our wood fireplace. These work great. Lets us grab those occasional flying coals, as well as shoving logs in deep, pulling out logs too long, etc.
Bought these to handle a couple feral cats I feed every night. After live trapping them, they will be neutered and immunized. Then released.
I'll use another pair of gloves inside these to prevent teeth reaching my hands and they are high enough to prevent scratches.
I don't want any wild cat kittens next year.
My fireplace guy recommended welding gloves and they are perfect for placing wood in our fireplace. My husband and son said they don't feel any heat. I am going to purchase a second pair.
These work pretty good to hold off the heat to be able to add/move logs in the wood stove. They do get hot sometimes and you can feel the heat through them. Definitely not made to hold on the fire for long amounts of time, but they work for the purpose that we bought them. The intoned downfall is that they make your hands smell like a chemical after wearing them. Glad to have them though. They are useful.

We ordered these gloves to use while stoking the arch in the sugar house. They are nice and long and protect your hands well when loading wood. They are well sewn and hopefully will last for a long time.
These are great. We got a woodburning insert and these gloves are a life saver. Blocks heat and keeps my hands from getting burned.
Quality welding gloves. Definarely worth the price
Husband uses these for the wood stove. He loves them as they fit his extra large hands (some X-L sizes do not).
Got these for my husband who teaches welding - he says they fit comfortably, they are nicely maneuverable and they offer great protection against the heat
He recommends them
