Look...they're not that expensive and they'll last a pretty good time.

I use these things in my offset smoker every time and I pick up burning/smoldering embers and coal all the time without impact.

Has some of the stitching actually burned off after a year of use? Yup. Am I ordering another pair today? Yup.

There's nothing like the dexterity offered by gloves like these when you need that log or charcoal in just the right spot.

If they could find a way for the stitching to last a little longer that'd be great but ultimately I am not aware of a better product at this price point.

They seem to be very well made, but with just a few threads that were loose. But a simple flame from a lighter melts and sticks them in place so no harm. I have tested the gloves with my forge and they work great in regards to heat resistance. They are thick and require a little work to use, but I find that wearing a thin, secondary pair of gloves underneath helps a lot with that. Plus all gloves are fairly tough to work with until they are broken in. All in all I believe this is a great product for the price and if I need more I will be ordering these again.

Excellent protection from the heat of the embers in the wood stove as well as the metal of the stove while reaching in. My old pair was shorter and caught the top of the stove raising my arm up, hence the burn mark just below the tattoo. These are much longer and have double layers of leather where you'll need it. You can reach in the stove while its burning and don't need to rush because of heat. I only use these to load the stove, and not for stacking wood or bringing it in the house, etc. For me it has one purpose; load the stove and prevent me from being burnt. They allow freedom to move, and are soft to the touch but don't expect to pick up a penny. I would definitely recommend these gloves all day. Also, If you stick weld, they're perfect. If you mig weld, I think they're over kill. I may buy another pair just so I don't need to do all the searching down the road when these finally wear out.

I use these with my brick oven. Done temperature can get as high as 1150 degrees Fahrenheit (air temperature probably around 800-900 degrees). These gloves are great. I handle the hot dishes coming out of the oven without hotspots.

These gloves can make you forget how hot the oven is. When I reach my arms in beyond the gloves’ coverage, my arms are instantly scorched. Not that I recommend it, but I have even grabbed some burning wood and coals - just don’t hold on too long.

I haven’t had these long, but so far I am impressed. For what it’s worth, the color is nice- at least until they get too dirty.

Good gloves for dealing with cast iron cookery. The multiple layers of leather really do protect your hand well for a short duration and it's large size makes them easy to put on and remove, so makes a good combo when dealing with heat-retaining cast iron.

For lower temps (350F) these protect your hand for quite a while and can work on multiple pans in the oven while seasoning. At higher temps, you don't have a lot of time, but it's still enough to get them out of the oven on onto your trivet before the heat transferring through the glove to your hands become too uncomfortable. I once picked up a skillet from a 550F oven and got it to the counter without any real harm to me - the glove singed and smoked a bit (probably do to a build-up of oil on it) but I was totally fine. This short duration for higher temperatures is mentioned in the description, so no points off for that.

The only real downside I could see is once they are hot, they do hold in the heat so repeated handling of hot items (like when you're seasoning a batch of cast iron pans, for example) you will feel a continued buildup of heat until you take them off and let them cool down. No points off for this either as it isn't a sudden buildup and you have plenty of warning as the heat builds slowly.

Will they protect you for long durations? No as they're not designed for it; but for those short uses most cast iron cookers do getting them into and out of ovens / barbecues / fires, these have worked great for me.

I ordered the gloves after watching a YouTube clip recommending these gloves for gardening. I needed heavy duty gloves for pruning shrubs packed with thorns. These gloves are awesome. They cover my hands and arms and I have pruned many shrubs in my property with no cuts and scratches. I highly recommend these gloves for protecting your hands and arms while pruning. OK, they are made for a different purpose, but believe me, they are now my favourite gloves taking care of heavy duty gardening chores. And to add a bit more, I have 6 pairs of other types of gloves!

Nice gloves, I am using them for blacksmithing and they definitely protect your hands. It says they are rated for 662f, which i would assume is the highest temp they can handle without damaging the gloves. However, in my experience they easily protect from sudden and quick exposure to 1600F or more. My hand dimensions are: 8 inches from wrist to middle finger tip, 9 inches from thumb tip to pinky tip. They are quite comfy, a tad oversized but it hasnt been an issue. The only issue i have, which is to be expected, is the loss of dexterity. Dont expect to be able to easily pick up a pencil and start writing. Overall, great quality/value for the price.

I needed gloves that would allow me to add and move wood around in a large wood stove. These are better than any gloves I've purchased thus far. I don't know about the durability yet; other gloves have ended up wearing out (holes in the fingers) within one season. I can pick up and carry wood but don't expect to pick up a dime with these. Even if they were to wear out in one season, which I don't think will be the case, I'd still purchase them as they provide the best protection against open flame and red hot embers of any gloves I've ever used over the past 20 years. I haven't timed how long I was fiddling around with wood in the stove but it's quite a while and the longer cuffs allow me to extend my arm into the stove. I don't use a poker anymore - these gloves make it unnecessary. I can pick up and move burning logs around in the stove.

Awesome gloves! I use these at work welding and some work days I have them on pretty much all 8 hrs. I like the the length of the gloves for hotter welds, they're comfortable, flexible and fit well to your hands. They're well built and hold up to, or surpass a pair of Tillman gloves. Overall I think these are better than Tillmans and I'll be buying another pair.

These are excellent and reasonably priced. Bought them for my wood stove and they perform very well. The VT Castings stove gets plenty hot when cranking, and these are thick enough to protect. The gauntlets are long enough to protect my wrists, too.

They worked so well, I bought a pair for my friend, and we used them all the day long stoking the wood fire for his sap boiling setup. Never scorched a finger or wrist, even though our eyebrows were sometimes at risk!
