TACKLIFE Drain Auger, Automatic Cordless Drain Clog Remover Perfect Replacement for Drain Snake, Ideal Plumbing Snake Power Tool,20-Volt MAX Li-Ion, 25Ft(7m) Replaceable Flexible Shaft - HGDDC1A

When I bought this it only had about 10 reviews and all positive, all from June and July 2018. That seemed suspicious and while I still think some or all of those were fake, I went ahead and took a chance. The build quality seems fine — lots of plastic but still sturdy. The manual has a ridiculous typo: There’s an entire paragraph in the English section that is covered up by a partial chart that was on the previous page. Did no one EVER proofread the directions?? At least glance at them?? Not a good sign! So... I charged the battery for about two hours, which the manual claims is enough, got a green light, and gave it a try.

I have bathroom sink that needs to be snaked about every 6 months. I’m never sure what the issue is — it’s not like I pull out big gobs of hair or anything... there’s just a bunch of muck on the coil and then it drains fine for a while. I suspect when the house was being built they dropped nails or whatever in the drain and the gunk just builds up over time. The last snake I had was a big box store (HD) brand. It was about $50 and the plastic broke after a few uses. What I liked about it was I could hook it up to a drill, but it was always kind of awkward.

So the Tacklife seems to work pretty well. You can’t hold the front handle like they demonstrate because you’ll keep pulling back on it which changes the direction, but I didn’t have much trouble. I had the snake about 2/3 of the way down the drain and it just died. I figured I made a bad purchase, but took the battery to the charger and it showed red. I charged it for another hour, and happily, I had enough juice to finish the job. I was impressed with how well it worked; seemed much faster and smoother than my previous snake on the drill. Afterwards I ran the coil through a clean rag and then lightly oiled it. Back in the box and we’ll see how it goes six month from now.

Just got this today and used it. This thing is going to take away a lot jobs from the plumber. My sink was clog the other day. I used the plunger but did not work at all. I knew I needed a snake or call a plumber. I've always wanted to get a power drain auger but they are expensive then I see this. The whole job took me about 10 minutes to clear the clog. Many people think they can use a power drain auger and start drilling. No, no, and no or you risk of damage the pipes. You have to work it slowly and be patient. Tons of videos on Youtube shows you how to do it.
Now the quality, when I opened the box, my first impression was this thing is kind of cheap. It's not a Bosch or Makita kind of quality. But then again, I've always compare a product with the price. For this price, this thing is a super deal. Cheaper than hiring a plumber and you get to keep this for your next job. Basically, one job it pays for itself.
Would I recommended this product? Yes, if you think you know how to use a power drain auger.
My after thought is that why didn't the manufacture think of something like this long time ago?

Took me 5 min to clear sink drain and 7 minutes winding it back up (winding using the motor). I got lucky because the pipe was blocked exactly 25 feet down. I had fed the whole cable in and it kept going, the part to fasten the cable had emerged from the housing and I was thinking "darn, I need a longer cable."--but when I pushed the auger in towards the pipe to get the last few inches, I heard a satisfying whoosh. Day's work done.

With autofeed, it's hard to tell when you've met a bend/clog until it starts twisting. Better way is to use it like a hand drum auger + drill combo. Hand feed cable and spin motor when it stops going in (both L/R and F/B should be at neutral when hand feeding).

The enclosed manual needs work, the language is often obstruse and it refers to parts that were not mentioned before/or uses different words. Also sometimes downright wrong (e.g. warning not to recharge ni-mh battery before empty, when the unit comes with a li-ion battery). The LED is not very bright, so it didn't help much but it may be useful if you have to work in the dark (in which case, maybe you want a real flashlight instead).

Good value proposition if used more than once. It gets the job done if used properly.

Best purchase I have ever had. This thing is unbelievable. works like charm. I used this auger a total for three times and it worked like a champ every time.It took me less then 20 mins to clear a clog I was putting hours into. I only wished they had this product years ago. It would of saved me hundreds of dollars that I spent with the local plumber. I would highly recommend this to a friend and everyone else with drain issues.

I bought this because I was tired of paying so much $$$ just to get some simple drain clogs cleared. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. The original packaging was sufficient to guard against most drops. I was able to find a very short YouTube video (1min) on how to use it, but it had no audio and yet I was able to figure out what the video was trying to convey (That's how easy this is to use!). I took it to the clogged shower drain in one of my units, and I can't believe how easy it is to use (yeah I said it again. LOL). You don't have to worry about using a chuck as this has a lever on top that activates the auto forward, reverse and locked in place positions. I ran it through the drain once and it cleared it right up. No need to write a check to the plumber and with just 1 use it has paid for itself already. The looks are clean and modern, and it feels very sturdy in it's build. The battery charged relatively quickly and had more then enough charge for my simple clog. This was a quick job so I can't really comment on battery life, but being a 25ft snake, it's mostly for the smaller jobs, but has the power for bigger jobs that are not to far away from your access point. I think this is a definite buy item. I hope this helps.. :)

Description

Key Features of Tacklife HGDDC1A 20Volt Sink Drain Cleaner Machine:
► Powered by Tacklife 18-Volt battery, the Tacklife drain auger can be used in pipes from 3/4" - 2" wide. Designed for use in sinks, toilets, and bathtubs, a 25-foot cable that's reinforced to prevent kinking.
► Its variable speed trigger gives you a great range of speeds, Tacklife drain cleaning machines offer a more powerful alternative for homeowners and professional plumbers to clear out clogged drains than traditional snakes.
►With one 20Volt battery, you can use our Tacklife PCD04B, PCD06C cordless drill, PMT03B cordless oscillating tool and our other 20Volt tools. This makes sense to join Tacklife 120Volt tool family.

OPERATION STEPS: 1. Firstly, turn the forward & reverse switch to left or right to unlock operation trigger;
2. Then push the operating knob forward;
3. Press the trigger to work with the machine, choose different speed according to control power;
4. After finishing cleaning job, push the operating knob backward to roll up auger automatically.

NOTE: 1. Once your drain is clear, it's a good idea to clean the drum and cable before you put the Tacklife drain auger away as the cable has the potential to be covered with some pretty nasty, smelly, bacteria-laden stuff.
2. When it's clean, take a dry towel (preferably one you're not all that fond of) and dry the cable as you push it back into the drum.
3. Gently guide the auger into your pipe(especially in toilets), please force it carefully as it may cause damage. Once you've reached a point where it stops, start turning it to clear up a blockage.
4. Please stay the forward & reverse switch in the middle to lock trigger when it's off work.

Worth every penny to me! I had a complete shower drain blockage. I plunged, used aggressive chemicals, and hand snaked to no avail. I spent about 15 minutes with this tool and removed the entire blockage...hair and scrunchies. I would have paid more to have a plumber come fix the problem once. Now I have something to work with for years to come.

Purchased the unit from the reviews on the product page. I used the Tacklife on my kitchen sink island drain that was getting slower and slower to drain. First run thru got a chunks of stuff out of the drain. Long story short I had to run it about six time thru to finally get the drain running perfect. I also used the plunger to force the broken up clog further down the pipe once loosened by the Tacklife unit. I wish they made this unit in 50 foot length as 25 got back to the main but I need more to clean farther out the drain. The part I really like about this unit is the trigger switch. You have total control of how fast the snake rotates. After running it fast the first few times I ran it very slow and that seemed to make a greater difference in finally getting it clear. My only concern is how long the battery will last as I don't think I'll be using it more the once every few years. So far it was a lot of work but I'm sure I saved money vs having someone stop out and snake the drain.

It unclogged my terribly clogged toilet! At first I was a bit afraid to use it, but after I got up the nerve, I used it a few times, and VOILA! SUCCESS! It saved me a LOT of money by not having to call a plumber! The battery operated one is the only way to go! The hand held "snakes" did not have the amount of power and one fell apart the moment I started to use it! This was magnificent and a real BEAST!

I bought this as a gift for my father-in-law who has several rental properties that he owns. He had a crank my hand one but his hands have gotten worse with his arthritis and he would not be able to unclog the drains for the rental houses and would have to call a plumber. Now he has this electric one that goes forward and reverse with a push of a button. He is so grateful that he does not have to call a plumber for a simple clogged drain anymore.

Pleasantly surprised. I'm a master plumber in the state of Texas and I've used a lot of drain cleaning machines. The only cordless ones I've used have been powered by whatever drill I owned at the time. For the price this is selling for I wasn't expecting a whole lot considering a decent drill costs more than this. It arrived today and I just so happened to have a stopped up sink at my house. The sinks are on the second floor with a clean out outside about 5 feet from the ground in the wall. I was able to get the cable to go up the vent pipe through the clean out and unstop the line. The clean-out was a sanitary tee not a test tee so it did have a directional sweep which was going downward. I also ran the cable through the P-trap on the sink which is an inch and a half tubular drain pipe. The cable had no problem doing either it's very flexible but it's also rigid enough to get through the stoppages. The self feeder moves pretty quick, faster than most that plug in. Time will tell how durable it is but so far I'm impressed. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a machine for small drain lines. Will update in a couple months.
One last thing, I saw several people ask questions about whether this can be used in toilets. If you like your toilet to look clean I would highly recommend you do not use it unless you have a way to keep the cable from touching the porcelain you will ruin the inside of the toilet with scratches. I know it says you can use it through toilets, you can but your toilet will look horrible afterwards.
