I used to avoid grating because I was afraid of accidentally knicking my knuckles. Now I can grate really fast without worrying. I thought I ordered the Medium Size, but they sent the "Large" which was okay. I have large hands for a woman ( about a size 7) . These had plenty of room These Large gloves are 9 inches from the middle finger to the end of the cuff (8 inches from middle finger to the wrist. measurement under for finger to under pinkie finger is 4 inches lying flat. Keep in mind, they are stretchy so men will have plenty of room to fill them out in fingers and palm.(My palm is 3 inches X 4 1/2 - long and skinny but they don't fit loose or baggy.) Most women would want to get size "Medium". If a man had fat fingers, he would have plenty of room for expansion with the "Large".
I bought these after I cut open my finger using woodworking chisels without thinking about my hand placement. After 3 weeks, my finger has mostly healed, but I didn't want to risk another severe cut, so I bought these to try out.
The first thing that I did out of the box was to take my pocket knife to one of the gloves while on a hard surface. With no visible damage to the glove, I put it on my left hand and took the knife edge to the glove with increasing pressure. No reasonable amount of slicing motion had any effect on the glove, with the exception of a ragged strand getting pulled by getting caught on the knife serration. After trying that, I took the chisel that had cut my finger and jabbed it into the glove, but with lessened pressure. Like with the cutting motion, there was very little damage to the glove, though a sharp corner could still be felt if enough pressure was applied to a single point of contact. This likely won't be as much protection if you are stabbing yourself with an extremely fine point (tip of a knife, for example), but even that was greatly reduced by the glove, and I would expect signficantly less injury if a point jab into the glove.
All being said, I think that this was a steal for the price, and I will be wearing this from now on whenever I am carving with my chisels!
For cooking and light duty activities around the house these are great. I purchased these thinking they would hold up better than others when working with various types of steel. They made it through the first day with flying colors, but each glove developed holes in 3 places the next day. Another thing to note, these gloves DO NOT protect against stabs/punctures. Good seller and fast shipping. Seller refunded my purchase even though I never asked. I'd say that is great customer service! Thank you!
Just arrived and used once so far. As described. I used them to cut meat and vegetables for a stew. I am a woman with small to average size hands. The palm part fit well in the medium size--but the fingers are too long for my hand. So when I was cutting I had to be careful to keep the knife away from the "extra" length sticking out from my fingers.
I like the coverage on the wrists. I haven't "tested" them by attempting to cut the fabric, but they seem to work and I believe they would have prevent a cut. I think they will be useful in protecting my hands when grating cheese or using a cutter such as a mandolin (spelled correctly?) I think they will also be good for yard work to keep stick and briars from puncturing my hands.
I hand washed them and found they came clean and didn't shrink.
I would give 5 stars except for the fact the fingers are too long for my woman's hands and the extra material sticks out into the food prep.

These are SNUG but then the width of my palms/knuckles are larger than normal. Once on, the gloves do provide a definite sense of assurance when cutting/boning/slicing/paring meats, fish, or any other items where a sharp blade and thick or curved cuts could result in a nasty cut on your finger/palm/knuckle, etc. The are not impervious to direct, very firm slices directly onto the cloth fabric-but this is IMHO...as I have not done an actual test for fear of putting a slice through the glove...therefore, it is my experience postulating that the glove may not withstand a direct, firm cut from one of my kitchen blades which are extremely sharp...and these gloves were NOT designed for direct, firm cuts but those slips of the blade that could cause a nasty injury - I do believe they will withstand that type of harsh, glancing blow and protecting my finger/hands from a nasty gash. There were NO hair net things in my order-not that I needed them.
Since I got this item on an Amazon search for steel kitchen gloves I had initially supposed they were steel knit, since the last pair of steel kitchen gloves were just that. Nowhere in the product description does it say they're not steel; just doesn't say they are and I should have remembered that Amazon tends to include any "maybes" on their searches. Silly me.
Description says " High Performance Breathable Lightweight Cut Proof Fibers Provide Excellent Protection" which I doubt since the two pairs I got had some mis-stitching on the seams and some loose fibers hanging off which I easily removed by cutting with a pair of scissors. How do you cut cut resistant fibers with scissors?
Anyway they were cheap enough so instead of giving them as Christmas presents to unsuspecting wannabee chefs or trying to send them back I'll just save them and use them in the yard in place of cotton gloves. They're not perfect for the garden but are good enough to not want to send back. Since they're stretchy and, er, um, not steel (!) I'll have to be careful using them in the sweetbriers or blackberries since thorns go right through them. (Yes, I tested them out before I wrote that about the thorns. ) But they are as good or better than cotton for other gardening. For thorns leather is better.
The size is right. Maybe Ive never had these types of gloves but when i tested it I can "feel" the blade, and it did not slice through the glove. I dont think it will stop a hard pointed jab though.
For my use on opening a lot of products with a razor blade knife if feel much more comfortable with them on.
I was using them on these types of packages.

So far so good! I have smallish hands and these fit great!! I am always afraid of cutting myself with our very nice new sharp knives! I have cut myself or come very close in the past and have been wanting to try these for awhile. So far they are rocking and I have had no mishaps. I can keep a better grip on things too with them and has taken so much worry out of chopping! I am a vegetarian and so is my husband so we are chopping things up daily! The price is amazing and especially getting 2 pairs!!!!!!!! LOVE THESE!!
Great protection for a small price, these gloves protected my hands and fingers while using very sharp knives, a shredder and a slicer. I intentionally pulled the blade across the palm of the glove, and also against the fingertips, and absolutely no penetration through the material. I also drug my knuckle across the grater while grating carrots and got no cuts to either my finger or to the gloves.
I've made additional purchases since the first pair for gifts. Great gloves and great service.
As two cuts are healing on my left thumb from a couple of weeks ago, I don't anticipate needing any more bandaids, at least not from any cuts in the kitchen.
These will be going on my next order and I will buy some for gifts for my friends. They are awesome.
