I took this on a five day backpacking trip as my #1 light. It was my only headlamp. It worked flawlessly despite some genuine abuse. One night we experienced a down-pour in the middle of the night. The next morning I found the headlamp inside the tent lying in a half-inch of standing water. I dried it off with a towel and turned it on. It was still working perfectly, so I simply removed the soaking-wet elastic band and hung it to dry.
Another time I removed my beanie forgetting that I was wearing the headlamp. It fell off my head and smacked the large rock I had been sitting on. When I checked the light, it was fine.
The batteries lasted the whole trip. After several nights of extensive use, the light was still going strong, with no sign of battery failure. I brought extra batteries, but never needed them. I couldn't have been more pleased with the performance of the light.
Made in China- you get what you pay for. The circuit in this light eats batteries like they are candy. The light quality is good for 20 minutes max, no matter what setting.
*EDIT* - Shining Buddy reached out to me within hours of posting my review and they are sending a replacement. They seem to think I got a dud. Great customer service, I will revisit the review once I have some hours on the replacement light.
*EDIT2* 6/28/2016 - Shining Buddy sent me a replacement lamp, and it is working far better than the first lamp I got. GREAT customer service, rating amended.
There are a few things I'm looking for in a headlamp:
1. Bright regular light for night time hikes and descents.
2. Less bright regular light setting for preserving battery life when brightness is not a priority.
3. Red light so I don't blind my buddies.
4. A button that won't turn on easily in the pack and burn out the batteries before I need the headlamp.
Shinning buddy delivers on all four of these as well as or better than any other headlamp I've seen and a much more affordable price point.
This is the best value for the money on the market.
There is no doubt in my mind that this headlamp was designed just for me. I am 60 years old and I have to walk in the evening because my lab gets very hot in the sun. I don't know the specifics about how this is made, but the lighting is perfect. I use the low light and it keeps the path ahead well lit. I didn't realize it was adjustable downward (I don't read directions obviously) until I tried to place it down on my forehead a bit, and lo and behold it clicked right down to where I needed it to be. If only everything were this fabulous and user friendly!! I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Thank you Shining Buddy! My dog Frank thanks you too.
I am a bit surprised this is rated 5 stars. It is not a bad light...but I have two headlamps that are better (about the same price). It has settings that are fine, but the construction is not as good/sturdy as my other lights. You can do better. Edited next day: The red led on the right side will not work (never has). Fortunately, I am only concerned with the white led's. The way this light is hinged (to reach batteries inside) is not the best way to construct the light. Other lights have a cam lock to access a 3 battery holder inside... which slides out. Edited 10 days later: Shining Buddy has literally blown me away. I emailed them and told them my red led light was out. They sent me 2 free replacement headlamps! Folks, this just does not happen out there. A great testimony to their integrity. My 3 star rating shot up to 5 stars!

Description
Lightweight, Powerful and Affordable, Too? You Got It!
Sometimes you just don't have enough hands. If you've ever changed a tire in the dark, struggled to repair a leaky pipe deep in a cramped cabinet, or had to take your dog out for a last-minute walk before bed, then you know how hard it is to hold a flashlight and get stuff done.
Ordinary headlamps promise to solve your dilemma. The trouble is, most of them are so heavy they quickly become too uncomfortable to wear, especially if you're out hiking, hunting, grilling, or playing with the kids. And if they're light enough for long-lasting comfort, they're so dim you're left wondering if it's even turned on.
The answer? Shining Buddy's LED Headlamp. Not only is it ultra-bright, but it's a comfortable, easy-to-wear design. It will quickly become your go-to tool whether you're working around the house or out for a late-night hike.
--- Excellent quality, affordable price.
--- Perfect for camping, home and auto repairs, nighttime activities outdoors.

--- Water and shock resistant head torch (rated IPX5) for years of use.

Need to light up a dark space? Order your Shining Buddy headlamp today! Heck, at this price, order an extra one for your car or garage, too.
Not a good product at all. Went dead within just a few hours use. Luckily I was using it for work in an attic space and not camping in the woods. Also, buttons are not very well designed. There are two buttons side by side and I frequently hit the red button by accident, then you have to scroll through three clicks to turn off. I had misplaced an energizer model that I bought in a drugstore three years ago and subsequently found. That product is still going strong after many, many camping trips and use at home. I'd buy another of those before even thinking about buying this product. Also, by comparison on the buttons, the Energizer has one button, you hit it, the white light comes on medium, hit it again, low, again, high, again, red. Very simple. You always get white light with the first hit. Never red and then three clicks. And really, who ever needs the red light? You don't want to ever be hitting that by accident and wasting your time scrolling through. Also, the red light is on the right side--most people are right handed and instinctively reach with their right hand. This isn't a product you use every day so almost every time you do use it, you're going to at least once have a frustrating moment of hitting the wrong button.
Addendum 7/14/17
I initially gave this product a one star review. However, two days after writing this review I received a product from the company with one button that functions in the same manner as the Energizer described in my review. There was no note asking me to reconsider my review or an annoying email stating, "try this product instead", which I find a very ethical and appropriate approach and I applaud the company for that...I don't know if it will last like the Energizer, but it's good product and I'm happy with it, and the five star rating represents a combination of the company's doing the right thing and the new product being a good product. My dislike for the prior product stands, but my design preferences may not be yours. I would buy from this company again. (Hopefully they don't ruin and begin sending me emails asking me to update my review. :-))
Good one here. Power buttons have strong springs, but they work properly. I use mine for reading in the camp, and I have over six hours on the original batteries on dim setting and they are still illuminating my reading material perfectly. My first use was four solid hours of reading and firewood gathering on low. Second use was two hours of reading, and these are solid hours of "power on", so I have at least six hours on these batteries (the ones that shipped with this unit) and they are still just fine on both low and high.
I don't know if the batteries that shipped are standard or alkaline, and I left it at the camp. I'll assume they are standard and that alkaline batteries will give even better service. When I swap batteries, I will make a note and update this comment.
The band is wide and of good quality. I have a 7 1/2 hat size, and this unit fits my head when wearing a thick knit cap very comfortably.
The lamp assembly is light enough in weight, but with three batteries it is a wee bit bulky, but that bulk is not noticeable or intrusive, especially when wearing a knit cap. But the trade off is long illumination times and excellent light. So I like this unit and would buy another.
Wearing this I felt like a dork. There, I said it. I felt weird putting it on then everywhere I look the light follows. Usually it's my head telling my hand holding the flashlight to illuminate something. This headlamp skips the middle man and goes straight on the dome. It's bright and has 5 or 6 different lighting features. Bright light, low light, strobe light, bright and low light and red strobe. Red works because it's on a spectrum that most predators and big herbivores can't see. So if you're looking to avoid being followed by a mountain lion, you might want to use the red light. The white light attracts all kinds of attention. I use this for walking to the restroom/hole in the dirt, reading a paperback I don't mind if it gets ruined (and many have), things like that. I wouldn't use this strictly for navigation because when I move my head, the light follows. Walking on a dark path would drive me nuts since I'm looking all over the place. I've yet to change the batteries in this bad boy and I've used it for over a year.
Bought this little gem on a lightening deal, wish I had purchased a lot more of them besides one.
A few years back one of the contractors I worked for bought a bunch of headlamps and handed them out like candy thinking that it would help out on Comp claims. They where junk and very difficult to use after a few weeks no one used them or even carried them on the job sight. If they had purchased these simple headlamps it would have been a different story. The on switch is easy to use and the batteries can be replaced without using that annoying 3 battery holder that so many battery powered lights use. Most of us used the headlamps that clamped on to the bill of our hats afterwards once we got use to them they just stayed on our hardhats all day.
I bought this for my five year old grandson so of course I had to check it out first. Well, it is worth the price. If you consider buying a headlamp and don't want to invest big buck$ without seeing if they work for you go this route first. I'm buying more to handout and can see many uses while working on vehicles etc. or just to have in the toolbox. You never know when changing a flat tire at night how handy this little light could be.
Wow, what a great little light. For the money, especially, this thing is bright! It's also built as well as, or darn close to my Petzl and my Princeton Tech. Battery compartment comes open easily and the band is soft. I would compare the brightness to a PT Byte but with. Ether reliability and way easier to use. You will have to cycle through each mode but for my purposes, that's not a big deal (I run primarily early, predawn or after dark). Highly recommend this little guy (or girl, I guess) for any time you want hands free, bright light! In the photo is my PT Remix so you can see a size comparison.
