Since sueded leather tolerates isopropyl, the gloves can be cleaned with gel hand sanitizer. The staff at the shelter, including myself, dealing with feral cats experienced no discomfort from biting and scratching attempts. Unfortunately, animal shelters tend to rely heavily upon probationers and parolees, so lock the gloves up between uses. Granted, at less than $20/pair new, they don't exactly have street value, but neither did the 50 cent plastic putty knife that I brought from home to aid with dishes.
These are great for working with my dog when I need to cut his nails. He gets upset and then nips at me. Now I don't have to fear his nips and I just work through them. It will be much easier to train him to put up with grooming in the future because of the gloves. These gloves, however, are not intended to play with a dog who tears at toys. They will not hold up to a large dog trying to rip them up and they are NOT bite proof. A large dog can bruise or bite you through these gloves especially if he tears at your hand. I can still feel my small dog's jaw strength through these gloves. It just doesn't hurt badly. Those reviewers who thought playing with a dog with the gloves on or using the gloves to not feel anything were ridiculously optimistic. No glove that allows you to still move your fingers is going to give that kind of protection. Haven't any of you seen dog training at a police academy? That guy in the padding can't move at all. Don't be foolish in your expectations and you'll find these gloves work well for WORKING with animals. They're not a toy. And, hey, Stupid! Train your dog not to be so rough when he's playing before some kid gets killed in the name of fun!
We adopted a biter who was causing a lot of issues. These gloves were heaven sent. They allowed us to work with the dog so we could change his actions. Without them we would have had to return him to the shelter. 100% recommended.
These gloves could probably protect me if a mountain lion tried to bite! I've never worn gloves this strong, yet are so very easy to clench my fist. Many of the other reviewers were dead right on! I can't sing enough praises about the quality and the price. My cat has quickly learned that when I put on those gloves, his disposition/attitude changes for my betterment.
I had a snake get into my house recently. (Ended up being harmless.) So I wanted some gloves for protection just in case for the future. Granted these gloves if needed are going to be used with Snake Tongs and a Hook. The gloves appear to be pretty good protection and are flexible enough to be able to use your hands. I'm happy with these gloves.

Great for playing with my bull terrier. He likes to play rough and with these I give him all he can take. Gloves have held up well and protect all the way past the wrist. Most of the padding is only on the hand area. No issues with them as of yet.
Most of the dog training things are sopainful to wear that protection seems a moot point. These are so soft inside, you could sleep in them. In my case, that may not be a bad idea with 2 mouthy puppies of varying age and size. One is Anatolian mix, about 1 year and the other is GSD mix 9 weeks, 15 pounds. Both have teeth that are painful on the arms and legs. The professional Shutzhunde gloves were very good protection but the neck strap could not be adjusted to be long enough to allow them to hang around the neck and still get arms inside. They are reassuringly heavy but you need the strap so they were returned. The one armed device is better but the dogs just avoid it and go for other areas of the body not protected. These are the most hopeful find in addition to the Tippmann paintball gloves even though they don't have fingers. Tried other items but these gloves seem thick enough to withstand puppy chewing even from the Anatolian as he's not really trying to hurt anyone. For serious dog training, the Shutzhunde arms would be great but need addition to the neck strap length. So if you're training a service dog and not an attack dog, these should work just fine and they are large enough for my husband (size 16) who's 6'4" tall and though they're too long in the finger for me, you can really sleep in them should be chewed in the middle of the night on a puppy whim; So soft on the inside - no kidding. I hope they withstand the incessant chewing for the next 12 months. Will update review if not. They were just so wonderful on the owner's side and sturdy on the dog side that I had to write an instant review.
i used to buy welders gloves, then other gloves, then more gloves, my dog can’t seem
to hurt these gloves, or my fingers in them, we have a lot of fun play fighting. old man mike
PS after months my hands still safe in these gloves ****** 6 stars
Gloves are very thick and do an excellent job of protecting hands and forearm. They are a bit stiff but still flexible enough to pick up small objects. I don't train dogs, I just have a very playful Akita and when the gloves go on she loves to play hard. I've never had a bite penetrate, although I can't say how well they would work with animals with more powerful jaws..
Added bonus, they work great over a hot BBQ grill....
These gloves are certainly tough. While my dog can't actually bite through them, he can still bite and leave a bruise on my skin. But that's him. He's a little monster! I'd definitely recommend for anyone wanting to protect their skin from an animal bite.
