Mechanix Wear M-Pact Glove - Black, XL, Model# MPT-58-011

I have purchased various brands of impact style gloves over the past couple of years but most have not lived up to my expectations. I purchased these in the hope that they would do so. I am now halfway through my annual task of cutting firewood (a lot) for my shop and house and these gloves show almost no indication of the abuse that they have experienced. By this time, others would have begun to show wear and tear but the Mechanix Wear have none of that. These are great.

Update: Well..... I wrote the review above after cutting and stacking more than two cords of primarily pine (this was for my shop) and was pleased with the wear capability. I then began splitting and stacking hardwood for the house. Unfortunately they did not wear as well on this wood. After less than a cord, I got a tear in a finger of one of the gloves which I patched with duct tape as per usual. I switched back to my more durable Ace leather gloves to complete that chore. I still like the Mechanix M-Pact gloves but obviously not for getting wood in.

Fit is a little snug for my liking, but not a deal breaker. Cushion on knuckles and fingers saved some pain within minutes of wearing. Other than slightly tight they are very comfortable and they work with touch screens. Only problem is they hold smells like crazy. Got a little gasoline on them the first day and they still wreak of gas (a week later).

***Update: Smell finally got better after about 2 weeks.

I go shooting with these gloves at the range due to the great padded protection I receive on my knuckles. If you're shooting AR's or shotguns, the recoil will eventually bruise up your hand and especially your knuckles (at least with me), so I needed to find something to protect it. After seeing this exact same pair in a Gun magazine and how highly it was recommended for casual shooters, I had to try.

One complaint. The going is xxL. The cuff is M . I have to stretch the straps very tight just to barely fasten the Velcro. if I make a fist and bend my wrist it will pop loose. Other than they are very cool and comfortable I use them for summer riding gloves.

Wish I had ordered these sooner! I bought them for motorcycle riding gloves, but these are definitely better suited as actual mechanics gloves (you don't say?!). I've worn Mechanix products for years and they are fantastic, and that's why I didn't even hesitate to order a heavier set of them for riding gloves. The "M-Pact" type would be awesome for mechanics who crack their knuckles or hands a lot while working. No more skinning your knuckles on rusty metal!!

Mechanix Wear MPT-58-011 X-Large Black M-Pact Gloves

I originally wanted the same gloves in desert tan. I recieved two pairs in medium(i ordered xl). I finally searched for xl gloves specifically and foun them to be double the price if the incorrect mediums. I found these blk/gry ones for a gyarter of the price. Same gloves, different color. I am very happt with them. Very comfortable and seem well made. Buy them if you want a great pair if gloves.

Great gloves, durable, comfortable. I stopped buying the horrible cheap gloves from big-box hardware store as they rip after minimal use, these last a lot longer so are worth the price to me

Along the lines of hand protection I've gotten a lot of use from these gloves .I use them on my job every day.(I'm a delivery driver) They hold up very well. The best thing I like about them is when I need to reach into my pockets to get my keys the gloves don't catch on my pockets( I've had a horrible time with other gloves.

They work well. Not bulky. Little pricy.

This is a replacement pair for another pair I've had for at least five years. Comfortable and long lasting, for me at least.
