I teach teenage girls who have learning disabilities, & one of the classes I design is for practical mathematics. The class I'm teaching this year is about geometry & its practical applications, so having been a designer & builder of furniture for years, I decided that I would teach my students about building & repairing furniture along with seeing all of the geometric principles in action when we plan projects. I'm extremely safety conscious & definitely don't want my students to hurt themselves as they are learning how to use the different tools (mostly "mini" power tools) that I'm teaching them to use. Thus, we employ safety goggles & I have my students use gloves to keep their hands safe from cutting themselves. I didn't think I'd be able to find a pair of gloves small enough for one student who is rather petite, but these fit her perfectly. They're heavy & just right to protect her fingers, but not so heavy that they affect her manual dexterity. I'm very happy with their fit, their function, & design. I would definitely recommend Mechanix Wear gloves to anyone who is searching for a way to keep their hands protected no matter what type of project in which they're involved. They're just what was described on the site, & they didn't disappoint.
They make clean up easier after things like removing tires. Keeps all that road dirt off. They are not nimble enough for work requiring dexterity (I had trouble picking up a washer), but they offer nice protection for all sorts of other tasks in the garage and elsewhere. I usually remove them and put them back on several times during a job depending on requirements.
Wash them in the washer and then AIR DRY or they will shrink and begin to unravel at places.
Our technicians love these gloves. They protect their hands and are comfortable. We order them in a variety of colors so each Tech knows which ones are his.
UPDATE: There are 2 versions of these gloves. The ones we initially ordered, made in China had a very good velcro fastener that worked well. The latest batch we received, manufactured in Vietnam, are a slightly different material and the velcro only works for a few times of putting them on. We are very happy with the original made in China gloves - and unhappy with this latest batch.
I never thought I'd say I preferred the product made in China....
I've been using these for over 20 years. I also keep a spare set in my car in case of car trouble. They take a serious beating, but unlike many other gloves, are extremely comfortable and hold up. I gave 4 stars only because I miss the original flat Velcro wrist straps. Nothing else has changed, but the newer style strap is a little thicker and snugger.
This brand and type of glove is what my husband requested. He uses these for his occupation. This is a replacement pair for the worn out pair he had before. The quality is great and they last longer than other brands he has used.

A new tapered TPR closure and increasingly stronger hook and loop provide a secure fit to the wrist. With a gamut of practical uses, it’s no surprise that The Original is the most recognized and most frequently worn work glove by anyone with a toolbox.
These gloves are the old reliable of the Mechanix line. They are the all around workhorse, and can be used in most situations. They make other, speciality gloves, if you need them, but these can handle most everyday tasks.
I bought a pair of glove at Autozone and they were very stiff. It made it hard to grab small parts. I like these much better and they were only $2 more. (No idea how long they'll last.)
I've bought these for years, and I can never find anything better. Easy to carry items. Good finger dexterity.takes a lot of punishment. It's been my goto gloves for at least 10 years.
From the army infantry to my now job as an HVAC tech, no other gloves have ever come close to how well these fit and function.
Good quality/price for my son who works in the timber stand management field.
