I used these gloves from everything from gardening to chainsawing and cutting up invasive trees for firewood and they were cool and comfortable. The leather was reinforced in areas (knuckles, palms, fingertips) where tree thorns, prickly weeds, roses, splinters, etc. could not poke or cut your hands and fingers. The medium size fit my hands (big for a woman, I guess) perfectly and because of the fit, I didn't lose my dexterity.
Very good ventilation and the light color dose not draw heat. I never ware black gloves during the summer, they draw heat. My hands stay cooler with light color gloves by at least 10 to 15 degrees.
