My medium felt normal, just enough to fit a smaller thin glove inside if you had too. The grip is there for large things, not for any small bolts or nuts. Working in 20f to 30f my hands where starting to get cold, so any less than that and you will probably have to throw another thin glove inside.
As others have stated, the wrist part is too open and your wrist gets cold fast, this can be helped by wearing your long sleeves and tucking them inside but it doesnt work 100%.
I got a bad pair where 1 glove had a real hard spot on the pinky finger from the stiching, this made every time i closed the glove pinch my pinky finger and it hurt,I had to open the glove and remove some of the stitching and the extra leather with a razor.

First pair was defective but replacements were nice. I couldn't believe there was no insulation in the middle 2 fingers of the first pair I received. Middle finger insulation was shoved up into the index finger and the other finger insulation was just hanging down inside the palm. Makes me wonder about quality control and doesn't anybody at the plant try the gloves on after finishing them??

Will say as soon as I filled out the return form Amazon shipped me another pair I had in 2-3 days since I have Prime. They didn't charge me for them as long as I shipped the defective pair back in 30 days. They already received them back via USPS so we're even charge wise.

On sizing these might just run a little small. I don't have real big hands and can wear a large-medium size while the large size fits just fine.

I used these gloves for a few hours splitting firewood with a maul and seemed to work well. Believe I had a pair similar to these a few years ago and like any suede-type raised leather they may wear quicker than smooth leather in handling rough wood. The insulation will also take some of the impact shock out of your hands on a hard/cold maul handle. I like them and seem to be a real good glove.

I haven't had them very long to report on their durability. I had read that they ran small, so I ordered XL for my usually just "Large" sized hands. I'm glad I did. They fit perfectly.

Thinsulate seems good. They are keeping me warm for most winter activities. I get firewood every day outside rain, snow, or shine and use them as my regular commuter gloves.

Update: I bought these in February, Began writing this review when they were new.

2 Months later, after nearly daily use, not always rough but definitely some stuff that's hard on gloves, like bringing in wood from outside, XC-skiing, and bicycling, the right glove is starting to come apart between the thumb and forefinger. I expect to make it through this glove season, though I'll jettison them and start again.

No insulated work gloves have yet made me as happy as the Dickies flece lined gloves I used to be able to get. I just don't see them any more.

These are very well constructed gloves and made from a very nice quality of leather. The thinsulate lining seems good too. I've only used them in the cold once so far, but they helped to keep my hands warm and protected while I was outside loading wood into the furnace. Unfortunately, while I got the extra large as I do for any pair of gloves, these are more than a little snug. It's not so much that I wanted to return them, but it's enough that it's noticeable that they're too tight. Be aware when ordering.

I own ducks and geese and found these gloves very useful. They kept my hands dry and warm and I went back and ordered two more pairs. I wear them at least 6 hours a day and they last for months. Great gloves..

Make no mistake: this is a Man's Glove. I don't know why they make women's work gloves with such stubby little fingers, but the "V" between them usually sits just below my middle joints. It's like having webbed fingers. And they're never warm enough to be outside for hours, or sturdy enough to wear while shoveling snow all winter, so I buy men's gloves for shoveling, two sizes down. These fit great, are comfy like fluffy slippers and (hopefully) warm enough - I'll find out soon enough. But they're big manly things. I feel like I could hunt bear with a stick. Perhaps I can shake my Popeye Fist at the falling snowflakes and scare them right back up to where they came from. I'll let you know how that works out.

If you are doing outdoor work in the cold, these gloves are just what you need. I use them for winter yard work, and they are warm and durable. When you first put them on, they are a bit stiff, but they loosen up fairly quickly and last for quite some time. You'd have to work pretty hard to ruin them. An awesome purchase for sure.

Absolutely, by far, without a doubt the best gloves I have ever owned!!!! My fiancee (now wife) bought these for me for Christmas because of my complaints that there is no such thing as a decent, sturdy glove. She found these and WOW! These gloves can get sopping wet on the outside and stay dry and cozy on the inside. I live in Akron, Ohio where the snow can get VERY wet. No problem with these gloves. I now have 5 pairs of these gloves and love them. I recommend these for every man and for every man's wife to buy him some - you won't regret the purchase.

These gloves seem great: they slip on easily and comfortably with the lining they have.(I always felt that Large or X-Large gloves were a bit snug, so I got these XX-Large ones; they fit fine but I probably could have gotten the XXX-Large ones to even feel better). So far they feel very hardy and are warm in this 40 degree weather. Not that bulky but picking up a screw off the floor can be a little clumsy.

My husband wears XL gloves. I ordered XL, and these fit him very well. The leather is soft, unless you get it soaked with water.... if the gloves get soaked, the leather will get harder and much less flexible. He has used these gloves for four months of outdoor work, and one of the fingers has worn through. But I'm ordering two more pairs because he's happy with them.
